Woman dies in North Ormesby house fire

A woman has died in a house fire on Teesside, crews have said.

The blaze started at a property in Warton Street in North Ormesby late on Wednesday night.

A 50-year-old woman was rescued from the terraced property, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cleveland Police said it was treating the fire as "unexplained" and was carrying out a joint investigation with the fire service.

    It's just been announced that Run Geordie Run, Mark Allison, will run around the world by 2024 in his next challenge to raise money for charity.

    His next stage will be Lisbon to Istanbul in 2016 - a total of 3,580 miles in 100 days. In the past he's run across both the USA and Australia to raise money for the Children's Foundation and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

    Eviction tenants lose case 10:42: Peter Harris Look North

    Tenants facing eviction from their homes after a landlord went bust have lost a Supreme Court case in which they claimed they should be allowed to stay.

    They'd sold their homes to the now defunct North East Property Buyers, of Gateshead, at a knockdown price, after being told they could rent them back indefinitely.

    But it later turned out the landlords had themselves taken out a mortgage, and when they defaulted, the banks sought repossession.

    Accrington v Hartlepool 10:32:

    Hartlepool dropped into the relegation zone after their 3-1 defeat at Accrington Stanley.

    Hartlepool had more shots, 14 to 13, but only managed to hit the target three times, with the home side finding the target five times. Pools had 14 fouls, with one yellow card, and Accrington had 11 with two yellows.

    Despite going down 2-0 at Wolverhampton, Middlesbrough cling on to their third place in the Championship and stay above their opponents on goal difference.

    Dog attack man still being questioned 09:22:

    Stephen Potts, the man who lost his arm after being attacked by his own dogs last month, is still being questioned by police after three people were injured in a dog attack in Durham City.

    Durham Police said six American bulldogs, which were being walked in the Belmont area of the city, fought with a Staffordshire bull terrier before attacking a man and two women.

    I've just been speaking to Run Geordie Run, Mark Allison, on BBC Newcastle, and he gave nothing away about his next challenge but he'll be announcing it at 10:30.

    His previous challenges include running from coast to coast in Australia in 2013 and he ran across the USA in 2011.

    To date he's covered 6,350m (10,219km) and raised more than £200,000 for North East charities. He told me he's hoping to hit the £250,000 mark.

    Police escort for wind turbines 08:28:

    Wind turbine components will be transported from the Port of Blyth to Barmoor Windfarm near Lowick at 08:45 and at 14:00, Northumbria Police says.

    The route will start at the port along the B1329 Links Road on to the A1061 South Newham Road, A189 Spine Road, A1 north, B6353m and B6525 to Barmoor Wind Farm. Motorists are warned there may be slight delays.
