Rachel Wilson case: Man held on suspicion of murder
- 30 June 2014
- From the section Tees
Police investigating the murder of a Teesside sex worker who disappeared 12 years ago have arrested a man.
Rachel Wilson had been working in Middlesbrough and went missing in May 2002.
The 19-year-old's remains were found in a secluded location on the outskirts of the town in June 2012.
Cleveland Police said a 55-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of her murder in Middlesbrough and was being questioned by detectives.
Other sex workers
Last week Miss Wilson's mother Tina made a fresh appeal for information on the anniversary of her daughter's remains being found.
A 57-year-old man was arrested in 2003 in connection with Miss Wilson's disappearance, but was released without charge.
Links to other sex workers who went missing from the Middlesbrough area have also been ruled out by police over the years.
It is not believed that Miss Wilson, from the Grove Hill area of Middlesbrough, died where her body was found.
A cause of death has never been established because of a lack of forensic evidence.
