Fire at former Tall Trees Hotel, Yarm The Tall Trees Hotel closed in 2013 and is earmarked for development

An arson investigation is under way after a fire at a hotel on Teesside.

Crews were called to the derelict Tall Trees Hotel in Kirklevington in Yarm at about 03:30 BST and fought the fire for more than 10 hours.

Damage is believed to be isolated to the disused nightclub and leisure complex section of the site.

Police said the fire was being treated as suspicious. A fire brigade spokesman said crews had to fight to stop the fire from reaching the main hotel area.

The Tall Trees Hotel closed last year and is earmarked for development.
