Hartlepool man, 49, charged with Angela Smeaton murder

A man has been charged with the murder of a woman on Teesside.

The body of 50-year-old Angela Smeaton was found by police at an address in Eddleston Walk, Hartlepool, shortly after 01:00 BST on Tuesday.

Cleveland Police said the results of a post-mortem examination revealed she died from a wound to her left arm.

Paul Smart, 49, of Eddleston Walk, appeared before magistrates and was remanded in custody. He will appear at Teesside Crown Court on Thursday.
