Seven people escape Stockton house arson attack

Four adults and three children have escaped from a house which was set on fire in an arson attack on Teesside.

Cleveland Police said a flammable liquid was thrown at the property in Kingston Road, Stockton. at about 21:00 GMT on Friday.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation but no-one was seriously injured.

Two men were seen running away from the house just as the fire started, police said.

Det Sgt Dave Smith said: "This was an extremely frightening incident for the people inside the house, which included children.

"Thankfully this did not have an even worse outcome."

    Under the scheme, 11 Genomics Medicine Centres are being set up in English hospitals to gather DNA information to help devise targeted treatments for a wide range of diseases.

    It is focussing on cancer and rare genetic diseases.

    The aim is to look at the genetic code of 100,000 people within three years in order to develop new tests and drugs.
