CCTV of robbery The robbers escaped with a substantial amount of cash

Two robbers who threatened a security guard with a machete-type weapon and stole a substantial amount of cash are being sought by police on Teesside.

The men, who were wearing balaclavas, struck while the cash machine was being filled at Sainsbury's in Middlesbrough.

A scuffle ensued with one of the guards, who was frogmarched to his colleague inside the store where both were threatened with the weapon.

The raiders then left in a dark car that was waiting outside.

Police recovered a grey Vauxhall Astra a short distance from the scene.

Anyone with any information about the raid at Crescent Road, at 06:30 GMT, is asked to contact Cleveland Police.
