Man, 18, arrested over Grangetown bomb hoax package

Police cordon Police evacuated nearby homes as a precaution

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of planting a hoax explosive which caused disruption on Teesside.

An area of St George's Road, Grangetown, in Middlesbrough, was cordoned off and homes evacuated after a suspicious package was found on Monday.

Explosives experts from Catterick were called and declared the item safe.

Cleveland Police confirmed officers were questioning an 18-year-old man in connection with the incident.
