Man dies in collision between car and bus in Darlington

A driver has been arrested after one of his passengers was killed when their car collided with a bus in Darlington.

The dead man, who has not been named, was in an Isuzu Trooper which collided with an Arriva bus in Parkgate on Saturday afternoon.

Durham Police said a number of bus passengers were treated for shock, but otherwise uninjured.

A spokesman said a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and burglary.

A 23-year-old man who was also in the Isuzu, was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, with a broken leg and facial injuries.
