Planning permission has been granted for a multimillion-pound leisure scheme in Darlington, which the developer has said could create 500 jobs.

Darlington Borough Council approved developer Terrace Hill's proposal to build a cinema and restaurants in the Feethams area of the town.

Work at the site of the former bus depot is expected to begin next year with the complex opening in 2015.

An 80-bed hotel will also be built.
