A man has been charged with murdering a woman found with knife wounds in Middlesbrough.

Rose Doughty, 72, a mother of four and grandmother to 11, died at about 16:45 GMT on Saturday at an address on Fosdyke Green.

Post-mortem tests revealed she had been stabbed, Cleveland Police said.

A 41-year-old man from Middlesbrough has been charged with murder and will appear before Teesside Crown Court on Wednesday.

Ms Doughty's family paid tribute to her saying: "She was a fun-loving mam and nana, known as 'rosey cheeks'.

"She lived her life through her family and grandchildren. She was a mother of four and had eleven grandchildren and many, many close friends."
