Police have made a fresh appeal for information over the hit-and-run death of three-year-old Danny Wake.

The youngster, of the Lascelles Park area of Darlington, County Durham, was killed on Monday 4 November.

Officers have studied hours of CCTV footage from the Neasham Road and Falmer Road area but they are yet to identify the driver of the vehicle that struck him.

An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned earlier.

Danny was walking home from the shops with his mother Kayren Winter, younger brother and another child at 10:35GMT when he was hit on Falmer Road.

Thousands of Chinese lanterns were released into the sky on Wednesday by friends and family in Darlington as a tribute to the youngster.
