Driver dies in crash with coal truck in Stockton

A woman was killed when the car she was driving was in collision with a truck carrying coal on Teesside.

The crash happened on Wednesday on the A177 near Thorpe Larches, Stockton, just before 11:00 BST.

The male driver of the truck was airlifted to Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital with a leg injury.

The victim, who has not been named but is from Durham, died at the scene. Cleveland Police has appealed for witnesses to the crash.
