Andrew Simon Andrew Simon died from the effects of smoke inhalation

A 29-year-old has been remanded in custody charged with manslaughter over the death of a Hartlepool man in a house fire.

Paul Nash did not enter a plea when he appeared at Hartlepool Magistrates' Court earlier.

Andrew Simon, 44, died in the blaze in Dent Street on 11 June.

Mr Nash, whose address was given as Holme House Prison, Stockton, will appear at Teesside Crown Court on 12 August.
