Andrew Simon death: Man released without charge
A man arrested on suspicion of murdering a father of three killed in a Hartlepool house fire has been released without charge.
The 35-year-old was held over the death of Andrew Simon, 44, in Dent Street on 11 June.
Det Supt Peter McPhillips said police were still trying to establish a motive for the killing.
A woman, 40, arrested on suspicion of arson and manslaughter, remains on bail.
Mr McPhillips said he believed someone in the town knew who was responsible for the death.
"The key to this murder investigation lies in the local community," he said.
"At this moment in time I've got no indication what the motive may have been.
"One of the lines of inquiry is to try and understand who [Andrew's] friends were, who may have being visiting the address and whether there were any ongoing grievances or problems between Andrew and any other individual."
Mr Simon died as a result of smoke inhalation after the fire was started in the downstairs of the property.
