Cyclist dies on A66 near Eaglescliffe

A cyclist has been killed in a crash on the A66 near Eaglescliffe.

The man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene following a collision involving a lorry, at about 18:25 BST on Tuesday, Cleveland Police said.

A 49-year-old man, the driver of the lorry involved, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The A66 was closed between Preston Farm and Long Newton for a number of hours. Police are appealing for witnesses.
