Two dead in separate road crashes

Two men have died in separate road collisions, Durham Police has said.

A minibus collided with a silver Citroen on the B1280 near Hartlepool at about 17:30 BST on Thursday. The male car driver was trapped for 20 minutes.

He was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough but later died from his injuries.

A 56-year-old cyclist collided with a parked stationary car on Front Street near Darlington at about 16:00 on Thursday. He was pronounced dead later.

It is believed he may have suffered a heart attack after the collision.

No-one else was seriously injured in either accident.

Durham Police are appealing for witnesses.
