Work begins on Nifco's £12.8m factory expansion

Work has begun on a new £12.8m factory which will create 170 jobs on Teesside.

Eaglescliffe-based Nifco UK Ltd, has been in Teesside for more than 30 years making parts for the car industry.

The specialist plastics manufacturing firm is now expanding to a larger premises in Stockton to accommodate a new research and development facility.

Leader of Stockton Borough Council, Councillor Bob Cook, said it was a "great success story" and showed "confidence" in the region.

When the company's new plant is operational in 2014 it will employ about 450 staff.

The firm supplies parts to Honda, Nissan and Toyota in the UK and exports to Ford in the United States and other markets in East Asia.
