Motorcyclist dies in County Durham road crash

A man has been arrested after a motorcyclist died in a crash with a 4x4 in County Durham.

It happened on the B6301 near Tow Law at about 13:00 BST. The motorcyclist, a 60-year-old man from Wearside, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the 4x4, a 50-year-old man from Durham, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and remains in police custody.

The road was closed at its junction with the A68 but was reopened later.

Durham Police have appealed for witnesses.
