Durham Tees Valley airshow cancelled

Durham Tees Valley Airport The airshow would have been held in June

The first airshow at Durham Tees Valley Airport in more than 20 years has been cancelled.

Supporters of the airport had raised £35,000 towards the event but need a further £30,000 investment.

Colin Granton, chair of the Friends of Durham Tees Valley Airport group, said a "lack of operational support" - rather than a funding shortfall - meant the show could not go ahead.

The airshow would have taken place this summer.
