Girl, 15, sexually assaulted in Grangetown

A 15-year-old girl was left "traumatised" after being sexually assaulted by a man in Grangetown, Cleveland Police said.

The teenager was walking along recreation ground between Normanby Road and Church Lane when she was attacked at 19:00 GMT on Wednesday.

She was dragged to the ground and assaulted before her attacker ran off after being disturbed.

Detectives want to speak to a group of girls who were in the area at the time.

The victim could hear the group shouting and laughing in the distance.

Police believe the girls may have seen the man run off and are appealing for them to get in touch.

The man is described as white, between 40 and 50 years old, around 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, of stocky build with broad shoulders.
