Love Where You Live art competition launched on Teesside

Mckenzie Thorpe Artist Mckenzie Thorpe said the competition would "celebrate the best of Teesside"

A contest billed as the "country's biggest art competition" has been launched on Teesside.

Love Where You Live, organised by the Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation and the mima art gallery, has a £41,000 prize fund.

Local people have been invited to submit artwork on postcards, to show their pride in the area.

The winnings will be shared among schools, charities and other community groups.

Artist Mckenzie Thorpe, author Richard Milward and footballer Jonathan Woodgate are backing the competition.

People of any age can take part by using an official competition postcard.

The finished pieces will be displayed at mima from 23 February until 28 April.
