Man arrested after Lesley Caile found dead in Hunwick

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in a County Durham village.

Lesley Caile, 48, from North View, Hunwick, near Crook, was found at her home in the village on Christmas Eve. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An injured man, 46, who also lives in the house was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

He has been arrested on suspicion of murder and police said he would be interviewed in due course.

A spokeswoman for Durham Police said the man's injuries were not life-threatening and his condition was described as stable.

Ms Caile, a mother of two and a grandmother to three, was employed by Durham County Council's children's and young people's services department.
