An Xbox games console and a marquee were among rubbish cleared from a beach on Teesside.

Volunteers organised by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) cleaned 780kg of waste from South Gare beach near Redcar.

A computer hard drive was also found along with bags of household waste.

The RSPB's Craig McNeil said litter dropped in the area caused "serious problems for marine and coastal wildlife".

Craig added: "Unfortunately, even after our efforts at the weekend, there is still quite a bit of rubbish on the beach."
