Driver arrested over Hartlepool pedestrian death

A driver has been arrested after a man was hit by a car in Hartlepool.

The pedestrian suffered serious injuries during the incident on Grange Road and later died in hospital. His name has not yet been released.

A 58-year-old man was questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and later bailed pending further inquiries.

Anyone with information about the incident at 17:35 GMT on Wednesday is asked to contact Cleveland Police.
