Redcar man charged after stolen JCB crashes into police car

A man has been charged after a stolen JCB crashed into a marked police car in Redcar.

Cleveland Police received reports a JCB had been stolen from a building site on Redcar Lane at 19:50 GMT on Wednesday.

It then crashed into the front of a police car, causing extensive damage. No-one was hurt.

The 27-year-old was charged with five offences including causing criminal damage with intent to endanger life, vehicle theft and dangerous driving.

Magistrates at Teesside remanded him in custody to appear at Teesside Crown Court on 6 December.
