Redcar man arrested after stolen JCB crashes into police car

A man has been arrested after crashing a stolen JCB into a marked police car in Redcar.

Cleveland Police received reports a JCB had been stolen from a building site on Redcar Lane at 19:50 GMT on Wednesday.

A police helicopter and officers followed the JCB up Yearby Bank when it crashed into the front of a police car, causing extensive damage.

No-one was hurt in the crash. A 27-year-old man from the local area was arrested. He remains in police custody.
