Body found next to railway line in Middlesbrough

The death of a man whose body was found next to a railway line at Marton in Middlesbrough is being investigated by British Transport Police.

The 38-year-old was found next to the tracks at Blue Bridge, near Overdale Road, at about 18:00 GMT on Friday.

Police are not treating his death as suspicious but are trying to establish the circumstances in which he died.

Det Con Wayne Green said police were "anxious to piece together his last movements".

'Piece together movements'

The man was 5ft 10in with cropped light brown hair and was wearing a black fleece jacket, grey jumper and black trousers.

His relatives have been informed.

Det Con Green said: "Although there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances, his death remains unexplained.

"I am anxious to piece together his last movements and establish exactly how he came to be on the railway line."

Anyone who might have seen the man in the area between 01:00 and 18:00 GMT on Friday is asked to contact police.
