A family left traumatised following an armed robbery at their County Durham home have issued a £5,000 reward to find their attackers.

Four masked men broke into the house in Redworth, near Newton Aycliffe, on 24 September while the couple and their two young children were watching TV.

The men assaulted the householder and threatened both him and his wife with a knife in front of their children.

A £5,000 reward has been offered by the family business to help find the men.

After demanding a substantial amount of cash, the attackers drove off in a maroon Cherokee jeep.

The vehicle was found a few days later in the rear alley of South Street, Shildon, where it had been set alight.

Darlington CID said the raiders were wearing white plastic Guy Fawkes type masks with holes cut for the eyes and mouth.
