A Teesside town has submitted a bid to host a national cycling championships.
Last month Stockton hosted a three-day cycling festival and the council is hoping to build on that and the interest sparked by Team GB's Olympic success.
Stockton Council has now bid to host the 2013 National Road Race and Time Trial Championships.
It said it would also continue to work with British Cycling to develop recreational cycling.
'Rat run' road closed to traffic
A road in Middlesbrough used as a "rat run" is to be pedestrianised, the council says.
