A multi million-pound homes and leisure development has been given the green light by Hartlepool Council.

The £7m scheme at the Mayfair Centre site at Tees Road, Seaton Carew, will initially create 30 jobs.

It includes children's play areas and "air domes" which will be used as an indoor five-a-side football facility, as well as 244 new homes.

There are hopes the leisure complex will be open by July, to coincide with the start of the Olympics.
