Middlesbrough's Transporter Bridge shuts for repairs
Middlesbrough's Transporter Bridge, one of only two operating in the UK, has closed for six days for maintenance.
The essential work, which is carried out every six years, involves the removal and replacement of the existing haulage wire ropes.
Until it reopens on Saturday, a free bus service will operate from Port Clarence to Middlesbrough, and back.
The visitor centre will also be closed as the work is taking place immediately above the entrance.
Middlesbrough Council said it apologised for any inconvenience caused.
