Firefighters control Terra Nitrogen plant blaze
Police said there were no reports of injuries and the cause of the fire was not yet known
Firefighters have brought a large blaze at a chemical plant on Teesside under control.
The fire broke out at the Terra Nitrogen plant in Billingham at about 1800 BST and at its height it was tackled by 50 firefighters.
Cleveland Police said it was brought under control quickly and its officers were not asked to attend.
The police spokesman said there were no reports of injuries and that the fire smoke was not thought to be toxic.
He said: "Crews are already being stood down and the fire is under control.
"We do not know at this stage what caused the fire but there are no reports of injuries."
