Media mogul Simon Fuller is to receive an honorary degree from the University of Brighton.

The entertainment entrepreneur, who grew up in Hastings has managed the careers of celebrities such as the Spice Girls and David Beckham.

A spokesman for the university said the honour was to recognise his "major contribution to business, entrepreneurship and philanthropy".

He will receive a Doctor of Letters on 31 July.

Mr Fuller, who also created the Pop Idol franchise, has built an estimated fortune of £382m according to the last Sunday Times Rich List.

His management agency XIX Entertainment also looks after stars including Bradley Wiggins, Lisa Marie Presley and Will Young.
