A driver has died following a collision between his van and a lorry on the A26 in East Sussex, police have said.

The crash happened at the junction with Wellingham Lane, north-east of Lewes, at about 09:04 BST.

A 30-year-old man from Uckfield died after his Ford Transit van collided with a Volvo lorry driven by a 55-year-old man from Newhaven.

The lorry driver was taken to hospital with "serious injuries", which are not thought to be life-threatening.

The A26 is closed while emergency services are at the scene. Traffic diversions have been put in place via Ringmer village.

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
