Midhurst crash: Lorry driver held after pedestrian, 79, dies

A lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving after an elderly pedestrian was killed in a crash in West Sussex.

The 79-year-old local woman died at the scene in North Street, Midhurst, at about 11:15 BST.

The driver, a 62-year-old man from Watford, Hertfordshire, is currently in police custody.

The road was closed in both directions in order for forensic investigations to take place.
