Swimmer dies after being rescued from the sea off Hove

A swimmer has died after getting into difficulties in the sea off the coast of Sussex.

The man was pulled on to the shore near the King Alfred Leisure Centre, in Hove, just after 14:00 BST on Friday.

Sussex Police said he had been spotted in the water by another swimmer who then rescued him.

The emergency services were called to the beach and the man was taken to hospital, where he later died. His age and identity have not been released.
