A man has been injured as he tried to confront two men, one of them armed with a knife, who burst into a post office and store in Hailsham, Sussex.

The man suffered shoulder and arm injuries trying to stop them taking several thousand pounds from the store in North Street, Lower Horsebridge.

The robbers left in a maroon older-style Ford Escort, police said.

The car was driven towards the A267 and Heathfield and later found abandoned in Hellingly.

The injured member of staff did not require hospital treatment following Saturday's incident, police said.
