A seafront fairground attraction has been closed after a teenager fell from the ride.

The 18-year-old woman fell 15ft (4.5m) from the Rocker ride on Marine Parade in Worthing at about 21:30 BST on Thursday, Sussex Police said.

She was taken to the Royal Sussex Hospital in Brighton with minor injuries.

Worthing Borough Council said the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) was investigating the fall.

John Miller, director for communities at the council, said: "The fairground ride operators and Worthing Borough Council will fully co-operate with the HSE and relevant authorities into the investigation that will take place."

He said the ride would remain closed until the HSE gives approval for it to be reopened.
