A man accused of murdering his wife at their home in West Sussex has made his first crown court appearance.

Dudley Boakes, 79, is charged with murdering 70-year-old Sandra Boakes, who was attacked in Grasmere Avenue, Sompting, near Worthing on 3 April.

She died two days later at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

Mr Boakes was initially charged with attempted murder but the charge was later changed. Lewes Crown Court remanded him in custody until 27 June.
