Woman raped in Brighton supermarket car park

An 18-year-old woman has been raped in an attack by two men in a supermarket car park in Brighton.

The attack took place at 21:20 BST on Sunday in the Sainsbury's car park, in New England Street.

The victim told police she was waiting for a friend and was approached by two men who asked for a cigarette. She was then pulled into the car park and raped.

The men were white, aged between 18 and 20 and of average build.

Det Sgt Stephen French said: "There are a large number of flats which overlook the area and as it was a warm day on Sunday people may have still been out on their balconies.

"The cashpoint at Sainsbury's is also well used and people visiting that may well have seen something which could help us with our investigation."
