Selsey Academy evacuated after chemical leak

A member of staff has been taken to hospital after a chemical leak in the science block of a West Sussex school.

Police said the man was taken for a check-up after being affected by fumes at Selsey Academy.

Other staff were evacuated from the school but there were no students on the premises because of the Easter holidays.

School Lane was closed while emergency services were at the scene and a decontaminated zone was set up.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said fire crews were investigating the chemicals at the site.
