A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two women were stabbed at their home in Brighton.

Police said the victims, aged 20 and 21, ran out of a house in Dean Street and flagged down a passing police car after they were attacked at about 03:15 BST.

They were taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.

A 19-year-old man is in police custody.

Det Insp Mick Jones, of Sussex Police, said: "The women were distressed and shocked.

"We are doing all we can to support them while they receive treatment for their injuries."
