Several calls have been made to Sussex Police after an appeal to help trace a man who left his victim needing more than 40 stitches over his eye was shown on BBC One's Crimewatch.

The 44-year-old man was attacked with a pool cue at the Duke pub in St Leonards on 29 March last year.

He had been playing pool with another man when an argument broke out. CCTV of the attack was broadcast on Wednesday.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information to contact the force.

Det Con Andy Lawrence said: "We have previously released CCTV still images of the man we wish to speak to, who we believe is called Perry, and does not come from the Hastings area.

"We also believe he has a mother called Barbara who plays bingo and a father called Frederick who had recently died.

"The video broadcast last night has resulted in several interesting calls which we will be following up."
