Woman raped in woods after night out in Burgess Hill

A woman has been raped by a man who offered to walk her home after a night out in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, police said.

Sussex Police said the victim had been waiting for a taxi in The Martlets at 02:00 GMT on Saturday.

The man offered to take her home but when they got to Leylands Road he raped her in woods near the playground, a force spokesman said.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
