A man has been arrested over the rape of a woman in a doorway in Brighton.

The 18-year-old woman was attacked between 03:30 and 04:30 GMT on 28 January after she left the Coalition nightclub in King's Road.

Police said the woman was uncertain exactly where the attack happened but officers believed it took place in West Street, King's Road or Middle Street.

The 19-year-old man, from London, was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of rape. He has since been bailed.

Det Insp Julie Wakeford said officers were "still looking at CCTV footage to try to trace the victim's movements before she called us".

"We would still like to speak to anyone who was in the area around the seafront in the early hours of 28 January and saw anything suspicious," she said.
