Pedestrian hit by car on M23 near Crawley

Police at scene Sussex Police said a 19-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car

A man has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening head injuries after he was hit by a car on the M23 in West Sussex.

Part of the motorway was closed in both directions near Crawley to allow the air ambulance to reach the 19-year-old man.

Sussex Police said the incident happened just before 12:00 GMT between junctions 10 and 11.

The motorway was closed for several hours but later reopened.
