A boy has been arrested after a car with three people inside hit a Brighton house following a police pursuit.

Two males in the car ran away from the scene of the crash in Valley Road, Portslade on Tuesday.

A 17-year-old was later arrested on suspicion of stealing a car, failing to stop and resisting arrest.

The third person had to be cut free from the Audi TT and was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft before being taken to hospital.

Police are still looking for the other male who left the scene of the crash.

'Sideways into the house'

The car had been stolen in Angmering on Sunday, Sussex Police said.

A neighbour said: "I heard a terrific crash and I ran outside and saw a grey car.

"I looked further down the road and there was a car that had gone sideways into the house."

Another witness said the car flipped over before hitting one house, then crashing into the front of another.

The woman who lives in the house was not injured, but the property has been declared unsafe by engineers.

A force spokesman said the circumstances of the pursuit were being investigated by the IPCC.

"The matter has been referred to the IPCC as a matter of standard policy purely because of the police activity at the time," he said.
