Woman raped while on Brighton night out

A woman has been raped while on a night out with friends in Brighton.

The 18-year-old victim was in a doorway near the seafront when two men, described as black, approached her.

One of the men then raped her. The attack happened between 03:30 GMT and 04:30 GMT on Tuesday.

Sussex Police said the victim was uncertain where the assault happened but it was believed to be in the area around Middle Street, Kings Road and the southern end of West Street.

Det Insp Julie Wakeford said witnesses may have seen the victim in the doorway talking to a white man she had left the Coalition nightclub with, or may have seen the two men leaving after the assault.

A force spokesman said officers were not certain where the white man was when the rape happened.
