Anger as Brighton and Hove rubbish collections missed

9 January 2014 Last updated at 21:19 GMT

Residents in Brighton and Hove spoken of their anger that rubbish in some areas has not been collected since before Christmas.

Resident Julie Middleton said she had gone outside with rubber gloves on to pick up nappies and sanitary towels.

Brighton and Hove City Council said it had made changes to the service but said the transition period had not been "smooth".

The GMB union said the situation followed cutbacks introduced as part of the deal agreed last summer, after a dispute.

Mark Turner, from the GMB, told BBC reporter Piers Hopkirk the rounds were too big and routes were unmanageable.
