Boy suffers serious eye injury in Hove hit-and-run crash
A 16-year-old boy suffered a serious eye injury when the taxi he was travelling in was involved in a crash with a hit-and-run driver in Hove.
Fragments of glass went into the boy's eye when a Skoda Octavia and Vauxhall Insignia crashed at the junction of Church Road and Sackville Road.
The teenager was taken to Brighton's Royal Sussex County Hospital.
Police said a passenger initially got out the Insignia to look at the taxi but then got back in and it drove off.'Significant damage'
The taxi driver suffered whiplash injuries in the crash and was also taken to hospital for treatment. Both victims were from the Southwick area.
Police have appealed for anyone with information about the incident, which happened at 23.00 GMT on Christmas Day, to contact officers.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "A passenger briefly stepped out of the Vauxhall and looked into the taxi, but then got back into the car which left the scene. It is likely to have sustained significant frontal damage in the collision.
"Officers investigating the incident are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or who has any other information, particularly sightings of a badly damaged silver Vauxhall Insignia in the Hove area."
